I’ve learned this from a Customer Service Representative of PLDT after informing her about me unable to connect to the wifi of PLDT MyDSL.

For the video tutorial, go to this page.

I was unable to connect to the wifi because my laptop was previously installed by its original connection. In other words, my lappy was previously connected to my own MyDSL subscription at my apartment, and then I wanted to use my parent’s house’s connection. I couldn’t connect to its WiFi that’s why I called their customer service hotline 171.

Here is PLDT’s CSR’s instructions:

I was already connected through a cable directly from my lappy to the PLDT modem before I applied these steps.

  • First is, type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of your browser and hit Enter. You will prompted to a login box. Enter adminpldt as username. Enter 1234567890 as password.
  • Once you’re in you will see this page on your screen:

  • Select Maintenance.

  • Enter the old password which is 1234567890. Then enter the new password. In my case I entered the default password of my parents’ PLDT MyDSL connection. This can be seen at the back of PLDT modem.

  • So in your case, you will enter your default password as your old password, and then enter your new password. Enter your new password again to confirm. Click Save.
  • After that, then that’s it. You’re done. Your password is now changed.

[Update, August 23, 2014]

PLDT has upgraded its old modem to a wireless router device since February 2014. So, the interface also changed. Here is the new way on how to change your PLDT MyDSL password with the new interface. It’s so easy, easier than the one above. Here it is:

Go to Wireless.

Click Security.

You will see this:

Change the password in the Pre-Shared Key. Delete the old one and change it to your preferred password. Save it. Then you’re done. Easy, isn’t it?

If you have other ways or much simpler way on how to change the PLDT WiFi password, please share them at the comment field below.

UPDATE: September 14, 2014.

Many users are asking me about how to to do the steps above using their mobile devices. Actually the above tips are also for smartphones and tablets. They apply to all mobile devices. The only thing is, you will have to go to the browser while you do the steps above, because there isn’t any app that will make the password change easier for you.

Go to Google Chrome, type the default gateway address, and follow the instructions above.

@NJM: Anung modem gamit mo? In that case, you can call 171 from your Smart or PLDT cellphone or landline. Then ask for the customer service rep sa technical department to help you.

I didn’t encounter that error when I used the interface.

Why does it say ERROR: New Password is not the same as Confirmed Password, even though I entered the exact same thing? I even inspected the elements to see if I did enter the same keys. Help would be greatly appreciated.
